Global Bible Tools

Global Bible Tools exists to make serious biblical-language study accessible to the global Church without cost or unnecessary barriers, with a particular concern for Christians, pastors, students, and Bible translators who lack access to the expensive resources common in the West. Its larger vision is to equip the Church with Hebrew and Greek for sound interpretation and theological study, while also directly supporting the work of Bible translation. To that end, the project is developing and making freely available resources such as lexicons, grammars, text-critical notes, language-learning materials, and other original-language tools.

At the center of the project is the Global Bible Tools Reader’s Bible, available on the web and as a mobile app. Rather than functioning primarily as another Bible translation, it is designed to help people actually read the Hebrew Old Testament and Greek New Testament, providing assistance such as word-level glosses in the reader’s own language so that learners can work through the original text without constantly consulting separate reference works. Those glosses are being translated into a growing number of languages, making the tool especially significant outside the English-speaking world. The broader goal is therefore not simply to distribute biblical resources, but to lower the barrier to acquiring and using the biblical languages themselves, particularly for people engaged in biblical studies, ministry, and Bible translation. The project explicitly commits to keeping its content free and open-access.
